Militants clueless about who they’re fighting against: Fazlur Rehman

QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl group (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that the militants groups aren’t united on the idea of who they are fighting against.

Addressing a press conference in Quetta, he said that whoever carried out Sunday’s attack on the All Saints Church in Peshawar, wanted to adversely affect the resolution that was unanimously agreed upon at the end of the All Parties’ Conference (APC).

Over 80 people were killed and 150 others injured in the twin suicide bombing that took place outside the All Saints church after Sunday mass came to an end. The bombing is believed to be the country’s deadliest attack on Christians.

He said that all political and religious parties who attended the conference were united on the idea that the war on terror is not Pakistan’s to fight.

Terming the church attack “a well thought-out conspiracy,” he called for an independent commission to be formed at the Supreme Court-level to investigate who was behind it.

The terrorists can’t be termed humans: Imran Khan

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had condemned the people who he said were “painting the attack in a political light”.

Pointing towards a possible conspiracy, he questioned why attacks like the one on the church occur whenever talk of dialogue progresses.

“These terrorists cannot be termed humans” Imran had said.

The PTI-led K-P government has come under heavy criticism for its inability to deliver on its election slogan of change in the province.
