Rocket attack on PIA aircraft at Kandahar airport

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft was attacked by a rocket while it was preparing to take off from the Kandahar airport in Afghanistan on Tuesday, reported Express News.

The aircraft, PK 199, did not sustain any major damage and the passengers and the crew remained safe as well. However, the passengers are now trapped inside the plane.

The plane was coming to Quetta from Kandahar.

A recent report by an Islamabad-based think tank showed that the year 2012 witnessed an unprecedented increase in cross-border rocket and mortar attacks by the Afghan Nation Army (ANA).
